Again... Just so you know. http://Dutchnation.ning.com is where it is at. I will be phasing this site out and searching for ways to keep the historic posts....if for no reason but to prevent myself from running for public office!

Email me if you have trouble getting hooked up with the new site and joining. I would be glad to help you through the process.

I changed it so that I don't have to approve new people, but new people still need to be invited. Any Dutchnation.ning.com member can invite people to the new community.

This should make it simpler and keep big_pen1s@getlarge.com from joining our nice little club. ;) See you later!

I have started up a new dutchnation forum that I will be transitioning us to soon. I have sent out a invite to a few folks already, but I'm sure that I've missed a few folks. Let me know if I need to get you signed up or invited.

If you want to get in, I think you can also head to http://dutchnation.ning.com and register on your own.

please feel free to invite other people as you find them. The only criteria is that this person ran track at Central College and they experienced tinglies at least once while competing for the Flying Dutchmen.

Hey guys! I forgot dutchnation existed for a bit! oops

I will not be running at the Alumni Meet, but plan on being there to cheer. Although, some trash talking by Pierre almost made me suck it up and start training.

My tenative (very tenative) racing plans include.... Central Invite 10k, maybe Drake 8k or 1/2, and then Green Bay Marathon on May 17th. I am eligible to be listed as "elite" which is a total joke- but would pay my way up, hotel room, entry fee, food, masage with happy ending, etc.

I am watching "Taxi" with Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah on TV. Sooooooo bored!

thank you to all for the amazing gift which brought me home for the holidays. I still am in socal until the end of the summer, but who can pass up 2100 sq ft so close to the relays/state/ncaa natties/natties for big boys? yard is big enough to bbq and the cellar will be converted into a guy town. it comes complete with cellar door entrance.

i think i am starting to recover from the funk that has been shrouding everything, so woo hoo! i am typing one handed and holding lily in the other, so please forgive my blatant neglect of capitals.

Pella, Iowa - December 16, 2007
Local Pella resident Sean Clark was savagely beaten on the way to his car to get a Des Moines Register. Witnesses claim they heard Ninja-like high pitched squeals and then the sound of a grown man begging for his life and then the loud snapping sounds of bones breaking. As the neighbors stepped outside they saw a scarred groin muscle running up the street into the darkness of early morning. Local police are still searching for the adductor muscle that connects the femur with the pelvis. Sketch artists have been brought in and the suspect appears to be an Adductor Longus with a scar halfway up the muscle sheath. Clark is recovering at the Pella Regional Health Center ICU, and family reports some PTSD symptoms.

--------

BTW, I'm out for the Alumni meet unfortunately. My brother-in-law is getting married to former CUI trackster Mindy Graham. Good luck to all that compete and survive!

I was pleased to have made it over 6'6" with a good attempt at 6'8" after only clearing 6'4" last year. My hurdle time is about a 7.88 55H conversion and I just edged out Mike Godbout, take that old man. So I only have 0.1 seconds to drop to get to where I was last year. I didn't run on a 4x300 this year, which is ok with me. Josh Hauser was entered to run but never showed up.

We are within two months of the big day so taking off two weeks before and driving to Iowa may not be a good plan. Hopefully I won't get too fat before next year and can make it back to run then.

Man, I'm torn again. I found out a week ago that the 801 Grand power climb firefighter challenge has just gotten more interesting. DMFD "new guys" lost by an average of one second per climber (top 4 scored) to Newton last year. That was just a class of new guys and not the best of the best. I also found out that some New Zealand and some other east coast teams are coming this year. Needless to say, I signed up and am climbing 36 flights of stairs in the morning before work. We have to do the competition in full gear. It is the end of Feb., but I don't know how the training is going to work. I am off on the 19th. so I will at least be there!!!

I now have just shy of 3 yr. old, 15 mo. old AND......drumroll......the wife is knocked up again! Evidentially, a wink and slap on the butt gets a girl pregnant at my house. Three kids in 3-1/2 years....wow. Sean was out of the gate fast with his 3 kids, but I am figuratively walking him down! Sarah stated that four kids might cost me my life. The heart rate was 160 the other day, so it looks like there might be three little Rhoten girls telling me what to do now. I love it!

The squad looks pretty good this year. We actually have 3 high jumpers who have went around 6'2 before. Two of them are freshman and one is Jordan Gegner. Gegner has been working his butt off in fall workouts and looks really good so far. Matt Patrick (who didnt participate in fall workouts last year, but still split a 49.x for us last year) looks really good so far. I can definitely see him making a jump up to the A team 4x4 AND possibly a 4x2 indoor? Connor Daily should be a good addition (Cobler coached him at Ottumwa last year, though doesnt have the natural ability of a DJ Cobler). He did run 50. in the open at the State meet last year and also split a supposed 49.5 anchor on their relay. Jake Contri is looking solid. He has a gas tank that doesn't quit and is trying to break into the A team 4x4 permanently and also compete in the decathalon outdoors. Mitch Morris looks pretty solid and is working hard this fall. I think a year of fall workouts away from soccer is only going to make him faster in his 55 indoor and the 100 outdoor. We have been having about 20 guys showing up regularly and all of them are working hard. Also, Lukas Bolander is really surprising me this year. After taking last year off, he decided to come back out this year and is really putting in the work. It should be a pretty interesting year.

I would like to be there. In 7 weeks, I will be in enough shape to coach the Alumni team to victory and help them celebrate at Dr. Salami's afterwards.

Hey man I was checking out the family web page and it would be cooler if I could download your image of you holding up the bridge as my screen saver of the month. Just so you know it would have been cooler if Tate was dressed up as Godzilla as you held up the bridge. I didn't think that a little CGI would be to much to ask for a VM ware engineer. Be proud of that title, I think it is sweet. My only question is, did they let you pick your own title? or was that a premade title? Either way I think its cool. Who else has a sweet title to their name? Feel free to adlib and add your own spin to your job title. Best answer wins a free buffet at the Horseshoe Casino and Resort Coucil bluffs Iowa.

I asked Coach Sanger about the alumni meet and it's going to be on January 19th. The alumni should get a huge boost this year, because it's actually a Saturday!! So, we've all got seven weeks to get into something resembling decent shape. Let's see if we can get a good crew there and show the young guns how it's done :)

I couldn't tell you, but I will be going to Central today after work to get some running in. It's been getting harder and harder to run outside so I think its time to start making the trek to central. Plus I need to get some hurdle work in before the ISU Holiday Classic. That is coming up in a couple weeks. Any word on if there is going to be an Intrasquad/Alumni meet this year? I noticed it wasn't on the calender.

Anybody have an outlook on the track team for this year? From cross country it looks like we have a core group of runners that can score some points for us, but I'd be interested in the rest of the squad. Who is looking good in fall workouts? Do we have any strong freshmen?
